Baselala siblings unite in Drua campaign

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua halfback Philip Baselala says he is proud of his sister, Noelani Baselala, joining the Fijian Drua Women’s team.

His pride extends off the field to his 17-year-old sister Noelani, who has followed in his footsteps as a halfback.

As a big brother, Baselala feels a heightened sense of responsibility towards her, ensuring she adjusts well to their shared professional environment in Nadi.

“I’m really proud of her. It adds a bit more responsibility on me as a big brother, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to be close to her in Nadi,” said the 19-year-old former Suva Grammar student.

The siblings, deeply connected to their family, often receive encouraging phone calls from home, especially from their mother.

Sharing insights from his debut season, Baselala credits learning valuable lessons from seasoned halfbacks like Frank Lomani, Peni Matawalu, and Simione Kuruvoli.

With an aim to secure more game time this season, he is focused on continuing his development.
