Bati pair in Warriors 2023 squad

Fiji Bati duo Braydon Wiliame and Marcelo Montoya have been named in the New Zealand Warriors 2023 National Rugby League (NRL) squad.

Versatile centre-back rower Wiliame signed a two-year deal with the NZ Warriors earlier last month until the end of the 2024 NRL season.

The 29-year-old is currently playing for Perpignan in the elite French rugby union competition.

Meanwhile, Montoya after his service to the Fiji Bati at the Rugby League World Cup has reunited with the Warriors.

Montoya had an impressive season with the NZ based team scoring hat tricks and bagging double in four consecutive games this season.

Much has changed for the Warriors since the end of the 2022 season, and given the way things transpired in a 15th-placed finish, that can only be a good thing.

After making a decent start to last season by winning half of their opening eight games, the Warriors lost their next seven, and by the time they returned to play games in New Zealand in round 16 their campaign was all but over.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, Viliami Vailea, Marcelo Montoya, Edward Kosi, Te Maire Martin, Shaun Johnson, Addin Fonua-Blake, Wayde Egan, Jazz Tevaga, Mitch Barnett, Josh Curran, Tohu Harris, Dylan Walker, Marata Niukore, Freddy Lussick, Bunty Afoa

Others: Adam Pompey, Ali Leiataua (development), Bayley Sironen, Braydon Wiliame, Demitric Sifakula (development), Jackson Ford, Jacob Laban (development), Luke Metcalf, Otukinekina Kepu, Rocco Berry, Ronald Volkman, Taniela Otukolo, Tom Ale, Valingi Kepu, Zyon Maiu’u (development)
