Big shift in team as Kolinisau steps in: Kabu

Back with the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team after three legs out, Rubeni Kabu feels the coaching change to Osea Kolinisau is a big shift for the team.

“We can see a whole lot of changes between the previous coach and the current new coach Osea Kolinisau,” he said.

“I am thankful that Osea has joined the team. His plans are to better what we already know and try to instill some of what he knows into the team.”

“There’s a huge difference with the coaches and we hope to bring that out this weekend,” he said.

Growing up admiring Kolinisau, Kabu finds it surreal to now be coached by him and to play alongside the seasoned players he once watched on TV.

“When I was young, I used to watch Kolinisau play on TV, and now to be part of the team, I am happy,” he shared

Kabu is focused on honing his skills with the guidance of the team’s veterans.

“I intend to listen a lot more, to catch a lot of things and learn stuff that has been shared by other players particularly from our seniors like Ravouvou, Suliano, Bolaca… Something that I am trying to learn more before they retire from 7s,” he shared.
