Blessed to come this far: MGM Manager

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School, traditionally known for its academic focus has achieved a historic milestone by winning the Girls Division title at the 2024 Coca Cola Games for the first time ever.

MGM’s Athletes team manager, Luvu Karikaritu, struggling to find the words to describe her excitement, spoke about the school’s achievement and thanked everyone that was involved.

“On behalf of MGM family, it’s a history for us and we thank the lord for the strength. The athletes were well prepared physically and mentally before the event, and this was all because of the teachers, coaches, parents and supporters,” she told FijiLive.

Karikaritu spoke about the financial challenges the team faced, especially in organizing training camps and ensuring adequate support for the athletes.

“Challengers we faced were mainly financial. We had to look at how they were going to be supported and brought to camp, but we thank the school’s management who have been there for the team throughout the journey.”

“The teachers were quite supportive, always encouraging and motivating students to give their best,” she said.

MGM dominated the competition, securing a total of 31 medals in the girls’ division, with 14 golds, 9 silvers, and 8 bronzes.
