Fullback Atelaite Buna scored a hat-trick as defending champions, Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women defeated the Western Force 25-14 in front of a packed local crowd in Suva tonight to book their place in the grand final.
The Moses Rauluni coached side put on a spirited second half performance to snatch victory after trailing 11-10 at halftime.
Buna and prop Ana Korovata scored the tries for the hosts while fly-half Jennifer Ravutia missed the conversions and two penalties.
The visitors scored a penalty early in the second half to extend their lead by 14-10 before Buna crossed over for her second try which was unconverted, but it gave the Fijians a 15-14 lead.
Drua second five eighth Mere Rokouono slotted a penalty in the 67th minute to open up a 4 point lead.
The last ten minutes of the match was intense as the Force tried to snatch a late win but the hosts were determined to win on home soil and Buna sealed the deal with a last gasp try which was successfully converted by Rokouono.
Drua Women will face the winner of the Waratahs vs Brumbies semifinal winner in the grand final in Ballymore, Queensland next weekend.
