The Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women registered a hard fought 19-5 win over the Western Force in their Super W Round 3 fixture at Churchill Park in Lautoka today.
After a heavy defeat to the Waratahs last week, the Mosese Rauluni coached side showed some improvements, but discipline continues to be a drawback for the side.
Conceding almost a dozen penalties in the first 14 minutes, the hosts managed to get their structure right and got the opening try through flanker Sulita Weisega.
Fullback Luisa Tisolo missed the conversion.
Drua was reduced to 14 players for ten minutes after prop Ana Korovata was sin-binned for dangerous play.
Winger Adita Milania scored the try of the match just before halftime after using her sheer pace and skills well to beat three defenders and touch down between the sticks.
Tisolo converted as the Drua went to the break with a 12-0 lead.
Poor discipline saw at the commencement of the second spell saw Captain Karalaini Neisewa and hooker Vika Matarugu cop yellow cards and leave the Drua Women with only 13 players.
This allowed the visitors to get a try through Rosy Avitch and narrow the gap to 12-5.
The wet and slippery conditions affected both teams’ play but the Drua managed to adapt well and hardworking replacement Merewai Cumu got the third and winning try which was converted successfully by Tisolo.
Drua Women now have two wins from three matches and will travel to Canberra next week to face the Brumbies while the Force will play the Waratahs in Sydney.
