Induction Programme for new MPs

The Parliament Secretariat in its preparation for the first sitting of a new ‘Term of Parliament’, is organizing an Induction Programme today for all 55 elected members.

This is following the return of the Writ of Election to His Excellency, the President yesterday from the Electoral Commission after a successful General Election.

Section 67(1) of the Fijian Constitution provides that after a General Election of Members of Parliament, the Parliament shall be summoned to meet by the President no later than 14 days after the announcement of the results of the General Election.

The Induction Programme will take place at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.
