Fiji’s judiciary today welcomed another addition to its ranks following the swearing-in ceremony of Acting Puisne Judge of the High Court Justice Mohammed Azhar Umaru Lebbe at the State House.
He was ceremoniously sworn in by the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Wiliame Katonivere in the presence of Acting Chief Justice His Lordship Salesi Temo and Chief Registrar Tomasi Bainivalu.
Before this appointment, Justice Lebbe worked as the Magistrate and additional District Judge in various courts in Sri Lanka from 2009 to April 2014.
Having started as a Resident Magistrate in Nadi in April 2014, he also served as Master of the High Court, Lautoka since April 2017.
He attained a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Wales, United Kingdom, in 2014.
In 2002 he graduated with LL.B (Honours) from University of Colombo in 2002.
He also attained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) majoring in Economics from the University of Peradeniya in 2000.
