Long distance athlete, Yeshnil Karan was Team Fiji’s Flag Bearer at the closing ceremony of the 17th Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands last night.
After winning three gold medals in the second week of competition, Karan was the most outstanding athlete and was chosen by Team Fiji.
The 22-year-old said this is the most memorable moment in his career and he is honoured to be leading his fellow athletes in for the 2023 Pacific Games Closing Ceremony.
Karan won his first gold in the men’s 10,000 meter event before he snatched his second gold in the 5,000 meter and created a sensation with his third gold in the 3000 meters steeplechase.
Team Fiji departs Honiara today.
