A 24-year-old man who allegedly murdered a man outside a motel in Suva in 2022 has been remanded in custody.
Lemeki Vakaloloma appeared before Magistrate Krishnan in the Suva Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with one count of murder.
Police Prosecutors served full disclosures to the accused including video caution interviews.
They also told the Court that the accused file bail applications in the High Court as the matter cannot be heard in the Magistrates Court since it is an indictable offence.
In Court, the charges were read to Vakaloloma and he understood the charges he is being charged with.
Vakaloloma has also waived his rights to counsel.
Background
The accused is alleged to have in April 2022, seriously assaulted the 24-year-old victim with an iron rod outside a motel in Suva, causing serious injuries.
He was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained during attack.
The matter has been transferred to the High Court and adjourned till 20 May 2024.
