Naivalurua calls on AG to investigate serious breach

Opposition Member of Parliament, Ioane Naivalurua is calling on Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga to investigate a serious breach of the  Fiji Correction Service regulations and operational procedures.

His call comes after a recent photo of former Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho in an inmate’s uniform was posted on social media.

Naivalurua said this is most demeaning and disgraceful and a very serious breach.

He said the primary function of the Correctional Service is the safe custody and security of those under their custody and Correctional Officers are bound by regulations and orders that protect and safeguard those that are incarcerated.

“It reflects the unprofessional and poor leadership within the Correctional service.”

“I call on the Minister responsible, Attorney General Siromi Turaga to investigate this mess immediately.”
