The school zoning policy is now repealed with immediate effect.
Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro said given that 98 per cent of schools are managed by committees and faith-based organisations, parents and children must be allowed the freedom to choose their schools.
He said boarding schools will also now be able to enroll students outside of the school zone and existing transport assistance will continue.
