Officer investigated over alleged misconduct

The Fiji Police Force’s Internal Affairs Unit is investigating the alleged conduct of a Police officer, mentioned in a video which is circulating on social media.

In the video, a woman claims that her husband who is a Police officer had an affair with a colleague and when she sought assistance from officers at the Valelevu Police Station to file a report, she was not properly treated.

She claims the officers told her that she couldn’t press charges against her husband as they are legally married and when she appeared at the Police Station with her three children to give a statement, she was made to wait for five hours.

Police in a statement said the allegations against the officer are serious in nature, and the Fiji Police Force assures members of the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted.

“The organisation is committed to upholding the integrity and professionalism of the policing profession, and any conduct by a Police officer deemed otherwise, will be investigated and due processes followed with regards to disciplinary measures.”
