New Zealand 7s coach Tomasi Cama Junior says his players had a perfect build up in the Marist 7s and are preparing well for next weekend’s Hong Kong 7s.
Cama said despite coming into the tournament via a late notice, they made the most of the opportunity and he is impressed with the performance of the team, especially the younger players in the squad.
“We knew we would face some tough competition and looking at the results of our matches in the tournament, all games were pretty close and all our opponents were equally good and pretty tough.”
“I had another chance to look at all the boys in the team and now we go back and take the lessons we have learnt from here and prepare for Hong Kong 7s.”
The former World 7s Player of the Year added that though they have not had good results in the last leg of the World Series, they will look to make amends and come out stronger as it is vital to build up well in the lead up to the Olympics in July.
The All Blacks 7s were beaten by DXC Barbarians 10-0 in the Cup semifinal of the Marist 7s.
In Hong Kong, the Kiwis are pooled with Great Britain, USA and current Series leaders Argentina.
