Turuva locked in Panthers 2023 squad

Fiji Bati fullback Sunia Turuva has been locked in the Penrith Panthers 2023 National Rugby League (NRL) squad after a successful 2022 debut season with the champions.

Turuva made his debut in the Penrith Panthers’ main squad after making a positive impression on the development team in the last two seasons.

His debut in the Panthers main team saw him book a spot in the Vodafone Fiji Bati squad for the World Cup which saw him continue his vibrant performance as a key player in the squad.

Penrith will go into the 2023 season looking to become the first team in 40 years to win three consecutive premierships.

The Panthers despite losing two stars over the summer are more than capable of defending the trophy for a third year.

Head Coach Ivan Cleary has hit the player market for a handful of signings but as has been like their past three years of success, plenty of their next crop of talent will come from within.

The Panthers will have a familiar squad again in 2023 but some notable absentees with Fiji Bati star forward Viliame Kikau and hooker Api Koroisau are among the key departures.

Penrith Panthers: Dylan Edwards, Brian To’o, Stephen Crichton, Izack Tago, Taylan May, Jarome Luai, Nathan Cleary, Moses Leota, Mitch Kenny, James Fisher-Harris, Scott Sorensen, Liam Martin, Isaah Yeo, Tyrone Peachey, Luke Garner, Spencer Leniu, Jaeman Salmon, Eddie Blacker, Jack Cogger, Chris Smith, Lindsay Smith, Matt Eisenhuth, Soni Luke, Sunia Turuva, Tom Jenkins, Zac Hosking

The 2023 NRL season will kick start in March with the defending champs set to take on the Brisbane Broncos in their opening match.
