Fiji went down fighting 2-1 via a last-minute goal to the Solomon Islands in their first leg international friendly face-off.
The National Fijian side displayed a dominant first half, with standout plays from Roy Krishna, Setareki Hughes, Thomas Dunn, and Mohammad Raheem, creating numerous chances for attack.
The breakthrough came in the 15th minute when Mohammad Raheem found the back of the net with a powerful shot from the side, following an exceptional pass from Rewa Skipper Hughes.
Fiji led in the first half with a one goal advantage.
Substitutions were made in the second half, with Merril Nand replacing Fiji’s lone scorer Raheem to freshen the attack.
However, the game’s tide turned in the latter stages when Tigi Molea equalized for Solomon Islands in the 77th minute, despite Fiji’s defensive efforts.
The decisive moment came in the 90th minute as Alvin Hou clinched the victory for Solomon Islands with a precise shot inside the box making it a dramatic last-minute comeback.
The match ended in a 2-1 defeat for Fiji.
