Teachers allowed early leave for Drua games

The Ministry of Education is permitting Suva teachers to leave work a bit earlier today to partake in the Fijian Drua games at the HFC Bank Stadium and rally behind our men’s and women’s teams.

Permanent Secretary Selina Kuruleca said the approval for this has been given by the Prime Minister and she is also calling on all Suva teachers to demonstrate their support for our Fijian Drua teams by adorning themselves in Drua Colors and Fiji Colors.

Kuruleca said as part of their duty of care, it is essential for the teachers to ensure the safe supervision and dispersal of students before seeking leave to support the teams.

“In light of the aforementioned announcement, the Permanent Secretary emphasized, “We wholeheartedly encourage everyone to sport Drua and Fiji colors today. Teachers may depart school at 3.00pm to witness both the Drua women and men in action.”

“While staff members are granted leave to attend the games, it remains imperative to fulfill school duties until then. Non-teaching staff are also welcome to take early leave to enjoy the matches. Kindly inform your supervisors if you plan to attend the games at the HFC Stadium.”

“We earnestly request all attendees to contribute to maintaining the cleanliness of the stadium post-game. Let us collectively ensure that the venue remains pristine by disposing of any litter and leaving the area spotless. Your cooperation in upholding environmental cleanliness is greatly appreciated. Let’s be responsible stewards of our environment,” Kuruleca said.

The Drua Men will play the Hurricanes at 7.05pm and the Drua Women will take on the Western Force at 4.35pm.
