Tuvusa sets new record in sub-junior 100m

14-year-old Othniel Tuvusa from Marist Brothers High School won his first gold medal in the sub-junior boys’ 100 meters final at the Coca-Cola Fiji Finals clocking a record time of 11.54 seconds.

The previous record of 11.59 seconds was held by Kolinio Radrudru of QVS in 2015.

“This was my first time participating and my support has been my grandmother who has always been by my side since I was a child, this medal is for my family and fellow brothers,” said the Ba native.

Tuvusa will now compete tomorrow in 200 meters and 4×1 meters relay.

Meanwhile, Luke Junior from MGM won Silver while Queen Victoria School’s Isimeli Raibevu won Bronze.
