Alumni claim Men’s Championship

The Alumni Men’s Netball team claimed the Netball Fiji Men’s Netball Championship after beating Suva 23-17 in the final at the Vodafone Arena on Saturday.

Netball Fiji Chief Executive Vivian Koster said the two-day tournament had been an exhilarating triumph bringing to action the top mens netball teams in the country.

“This tournament has witnessed the emergence of many young prospects,” Koster said.

“The young men from Ra showcased flair and a distinctive style of play, as did the young players from Naitasiri.”

“This competition serves as a platform for nurturing upcoming talents.”

In the third and fourth place playoffs, teams from the Sugar City, Sekoula and Lautoka Tailevu, battled it out.

Sekoula managed to secure third place with a narrow 19-18 victory.

“It also provides an opportunity for selectors to observe a wider pool of players.

“Netball Fiji has submitted an Expression of Interest to compete in the Men’s Fast5 Netball World Series, and should we be selected, we aim to assemble a competitive team.”
