Saukuru commends Team Fiji’s performance

Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru has commended Team Fiji’s performance at the 17th Pacific Game in the Solomon Islands which concluded over the weekend.

Saukuru, who eagerly waited for the national heroes to return to the country today, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to each athlete, acknowledging their relentless efforts and commitment to representing Fiji on the international stage.

The team arrived home at the Nadi International Airport at 1am carrying an impressive medal haul of 21 Gold, 31 Silver and 43 Bronze.

“The achievements of Team Fiji at the Pacific Games 2023 are a testament to the hard work, discipline, and resilience of our athletes,” Saukuru said.

“Their exceptional performances have not only brought glory to our nation but have also inspired countless young Fijians to pursue their dreams in sports.”

Saukuru further emphasised the Government’s commitment to supporting and nurturing the talents of our youth, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and opportunities to excel in their chosen sporting disciplines.

He also extended his gratitude to the coaches, officials, and support staff who played an integral role in Team Fiji’s success.
