No directives issued in AG, CJ meeting

The Acting Chief Registrar, Kashyapa Wickramasekara has confirmed that Attorney-General Siromi Turaga made a courtesy call to Chief Justice Kamal Kumar last week.

The Acting Chief Registrar in a statement said during the informal discussion, the Chief Justice briefed the Attorney-General about projects recently completed and those in process.

Wickramasekara said the need to fill the senior management positions was discussed, and such positions will be filled in compliance with due process and the law.

“I also confirm, the meeting was very cordial, and no directives were issued by the Attorney-General that may amount to interference with the independence of the Judiciary in any respect,” Wickramasekara added.
