Krishna’s Odisha FC set for AFC semis

Odisha FC is gearing up for a crucial first-leg match against Australian club Central Coast Mariners in the AFC Cup Inter-Zonal semifinal tonight.

After a tight schedule with their last game in Chennai on Sunday night, the team faces the challenge of acclimatizing to the Australian conditions and time difference ahead of their clash in New South Wales, Australia.

Interim Head Coach Floyd Pinto shared his excitement about the team’s progress this season,

“It’s been quite the journey; this season has been a breakthrough for us, representing India in Asia, especially reaching the OFC quarterfinals against a top team in Australia.”

Fijian football star Roy Krishna, well acquainted with the A-league from his time with Wellington Phoenix, shared his thoughts on the upcoming match and the comparison between ISL and A-League.

“I have been keeping tabs on the A-league, and it’s good to be back. The ISL has grown significantly, with younger players coming in. In terms of growth, I think ISL is growing more than the A-League,” Krishna said.

Focused on the importance of teamwork and securing three points, Krishna remains hopeful of scoring but emphasizes the team’s collective effort.

“It’s going to be tough competing against them; they are a young side and are in the top two of the table for a reason. We respect them, but we will also have our support from fans, and that will be our 12th man,” Krishna added.

Odisha FC’s clash with Central Coast Mariners is scheduled for 8 pm (FJT) .
