Torrential downpour for Fiji group: Fiji Met

A flood warning remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent and downstream of all major rivers of Vanua Levu while flood alert is in force for flood-prone areas adjacent and downstream of all major rivers of Western Viti Levu.

In a statement, the Fiji Meteorological Service says a heavy rain warning remains in force for the Northern Division and Northern Lau Group and is now downgraded to Alert for the rest of Fiji.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies slowly moving over the Northern parts of the country.

Associated clouds and rain continue to affect the Northern Division and Northern Lau Group.

Also, a southeast-to-northwest wind flow prevails over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group, occasional rain, heavy at times, and isolated thunderstorms over the northern and northeastern parts of the country.

Elsewhere, cloudy periods with brief showers, rain gradually becoming occasional over the rest of the group from tomorrow.
