Investor confidence at an all-time high: Rabuka

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has set the record straight and says investor confidence is at an all-time high, despite the former Attorney-General’s intention to talk down the state of Fiji’s economy.

Speaking to FijiLive and responding to  Sayed-Khaiyum’s claims on the deteriorating state of Fiji’s economy and the lack of investor confidence, Rabuka said this is not true.

Rabuka said in the last 15 months, expressions of interest conveyed to the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet have been interesting high.

He rejected the idea portrayed by Sayed-Khaiyum and said: “I do not believe there has been an erosion of investor confidence, for both current investors and those intending to invest.

“They keep coming and are still being assessed at the moment,” he said.

The Prime Minister admitted that like in any Coalition Government, they have succumbed to problems; however, the Cabinet is working on these issues.

Rabuka said that the Coalition Government is mastering this well and they cannot satisfy everyone all the time.

“The Government is trending cautiously in this regard.”

Rabuka is calling on Sayed-Khaiyum and all Fijians who know investors that are having problems to reach out to the Ministry of Trade or this office so matters can be ironed out.

He said he has had to exercise disciplinary measures on some as head of Cabinet and added that the Government continues to do these things and is always not infallible and that they are not perfect; however, they continue to strive for a better Fiji.
