Waratahs prepare to counter Drua star, Buna

The NSW Waratahs have their sights set on containing Fijian Drua’s key player Atelaite Buna in the upcoming Super Rugby Women’s final this Sunday at Ballymore.

Buna, recognised as the season’s breakout star, played a crucial role in Drua’s semi-final victory over the Western Force where her performance captivated the home crowd in Suva.

She notched a hat-trick, broke through 11 tackles, and made four significant line breaks.

ATELAITE BUNA

Waratahs’ flyhalf Arabella McKenzie told Rugby Australia that the team needs to play smarter, particularly in their kicking game to limit Buna’s influence.

She also spoke about the strength of their own players, such as Maya Stewart, the season’s top try-scorer, and Desiree Miller who scored three tries in their semi-final.

The Waratahs are bracing for a tough rematch of the 2022 final and are focusing on a strategic approach to contain Buna and unleash their own attacking capabilities.
