Boy, 12, drowns in Wainibuka

A 12-year-old boy drowned on Wednesday afternoon in the Wainibuka River.

The boy from Nayavu Village was swimming with friends when he disappeared.

Police said following search efforts, his body was found yesterday.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted while investigations continue.

18 people have so far drowned this year compared to 25 for the same period last year.

Police are requesting parents and guardians to monitor their children’s activities and ensure proper supervision.
