Family witnesses Lomani’s special SRP feat

Swire Shipping Fijian Drua scrumhalf Frank Lomani’s family traveled from Nukubalavu, Savusavu to further motivate and inspire him as he took the field for his 50th Super Rugby Pacific match in Lautoka yesterday.

The 27-year-old Flying Fijians rep displayed a stellar performance and set-up a try in their 31-13 win over the Force which saw him cap off the special occasion by scooping the Player of the Match award.

Lomani ran on the field before kick-off with his son Xavier Caleb Lomani, to mark the special occasion, which his father and elders from the village sat in the grandstand to provide the lungpower and motivation to him and the team.

He said both the Fijian Drua men and women made the day more special for him by winning their respective games.

“I give all glory to the Lord Almighty for giving me the strength, good health and fitness to play 50 games in Super Rugby. The journey has been tough and full of challenges but I am happy to have come this far and want to continue representing the Drua and my nation,” said Lomani.

“It was more special to have my son and family travel all the way from Savusavu to witness this momentous occasion. They are my backbone and the reason why I work so hard in life and play to the best of my ability.”

“I also thank my Drua boys and girls for giving me a good gift by winning their game. We are a big Drua family where everyone works together, prays together and cares for one another,” he added.

Lomani played 25 matches for the Melbourne Rebels before joining the Drua and completed the half century record yesterday.
