Airline announces inclusive plan for women

In celebrating International Women’s’ Day 2024, Fiji Airways has announced a comprehensive plan to forge a more inclusive environment for women.

The national airline has today committed itself to implementing an Inclusion Action Plan designed to identify and mentor women for future growth and leadership roles within the company.

The initiatives include preference given to women for all future recruitment and/or promotions provided they meet the minimum competency requirements for the role, all recruitment and or promotion panels from today going forward must include one or more women.

The following diversity/women targets for leadership will be accomplished no later than the end of 2026;

-The ratio of Chiefs be at least 40% women.

-The ratio of Executive Managers to be 50% women.

-The ratio of Senior Managers to be 50%.

-The ratio of Managers to increase from 40% to 50%.

-To assist with these commitments Fiji Airways will select 20 high potential women, and 5 men to undergo an intensive 2 to 3 year Systemic Leadership Development program.

50 top employees selected on initial criteria will undergo a more extensive selection screening such as Psychometric tests, in depth professional Enneagram Assessments et cetera.

Once selected, a 3 year program for the final 20 will cover 4 domains of leadership:

Self Mastery

-Professional Enneagram assessment and development

– Michael Bunting – Mindful Leader and Vertical Growth Program

– 1 on 1 coaching every 2 weeks

Leadership Skills

-Multiple courses (such as Feedback, Planning, Remaining Future Fit)

– Extensive mentoring

– Departmental rotation

Relationship Mastery

-Learning to Coach

-Communication mastery

Systemic Integration

-Embracing perspectives

– Strategic skills

Airline Managing Director and Chief Executive, Andre Viljoen said Fiji Airways thrives because of the diverse talents, perspectives, and dedication of its women employees.

“Women bring a unique perspective to the organization, and in many instances they have been responsible for ground breaking innovations which have elevated Fiji Airways to where it is today.”

Viljoen also spent the day personally engaging with women in the organisation to thank them for their contributions.
