Fiji ends LA 7s campaign in sixth place

Fiji ended its campaign in the Los Angeles 7s in sixth spot after losing 26-21 to Argentina in the fifth place playoff today.

The game kicked off with Argentina’s Marcos Moneta showing exceptional kicking skill, sidestepping and sprinting to the try line for the first score, converted by Joaquin Pellandini.

Fiji responded strongly, with Ropate Rere’s half-ground sprint and a successful conversion by Napolioni Bolaca evening the score.

However, Argentina quickly regained the lead through Agustin Fraga’s try following a turnover, ending the first half 14-7 in favor of Argentina.

The second half saw a fierce comeback from Fiji by a brilliant team play where Rere’s clean offload gave the chance to Ponipate Loganimasi to score a try which was again converted by Bolaca.

Skipper Bolaca furthered Fiji’s lead with a solo effort, making it 21-14.

Argentina made a comeback and equalized through Matías Osadczuk.

The match reached its climax when Marcos Moneta scored in the final minute, sealing Argentina’s victory.
