Fiji Pearls to enter WCup as underdogs

The Fiji Pearls will go in as underdogs to next month’s Netball World Cup in South Africa.

Fiji is the least ranked team in Pool A filled with top teams in Australia, Zimbabwe and the ever-improving Tonga.

Australia is top seed sitting second in the Netball World Rankings with Tonga in seventh and Zimbabwe in 13.

The Unaisi Rokoura coached side currently sit 19th on the rankings.

Fiji begins its campaign against Pacific neighbours Tonga on July 28 at 7pm at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Tonga has come out on top in all six of their previous encounters and a win would set the precedent for the remainder of the Pearls campaign.

Fiji faces Zimbabwe next on July 29th with its final pool match against the Australian Diamonds on July 30th.
