Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says his Government is committed to keep the Fiji Airways family together.
Speaking during his official visit to the Fiji Airways Head Office in Nadi, Rabuka said the airline continues to rise above challenges and has displayed exceptional air service.
He said Fiji Airways has continued to bring pride to the nation.
“The Coalition Government is determined to making sure the industry thrives because we understand the important role that the airline continues to play in the economic survival of Fiji and her people.”
He said the Government also recognized the key role the airline plays in jump starting the tourism sector.
The Prime Minister also added that it is pivotal to stay ahead and to being one of the competitive players in the tourism market.
Government has allocated $30 million for a significant marketing budget, also with an operating grant of $7 million.
Fiji Airways chief executive Andre Viljoen said the airline is experiencing a level of growth and earnings it has never seen before, in the 70 years history of the company.
Viljoen said Fiji Airways’ achievements so far would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and dedications of all its employees and its leadership team.
“This defines our role as a national strategic asset, guiding us to do our best for the betterment of the Airline and the country. Our job is turning this into tangible returns by empowering our employees and stakeholders and making them champions of Fiji and Fiji Airways.”
Rabuka was also given a deep and detailed briefing on where the airline stands and its goals for the future.
