Ministry works to digitise processes

The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is currently working to digitise its database, which would allow for real-time information to assist day-to-day processes.

Minister Responsible, Lynda Tabuya says the Ministry is undergoing a review of its IT Section to allow for efficient and effective processes; and importantly keeping an account of how taxpayer’s funds are used in the form of social welfare assistance to those that need it the most.

Tabuya said the review will look at all its processes, not only the processes of disbursing funds to social welfare recipients but the printing and processing of food vouchers as well.

The Minister said they were in discussions with the Pacific Community (SPC) on assisting the Ministry with technical support.

“I am very happy to say that we have spoken with SPC, and they will look at this component and how they can help out in terms of digitisation of the entire ministry processes,” Tabuya added.

Last week, the Ministry held a meeting with the former Minister and current Principal Strategic Lead –Pacific Women, Mereseini Rakuita to discuss these plans.
