Navua Head Coach Saiyad Ali has raised concerns over the negative impact of public criticism on players during home matches.
He pointed out that the proximity of spectators to the field has led to demoralizing effects on the team’s performance.
“I think the public is too close to the field, some of the people start criticizing the players, and it demoralizes the players. That is why I think Navua is not doing well in home matches,” he told FijiLive.
According to Ali, the Navua displays much better performance in away games.
Ali made a direct appeal to the Navua supporters, urging them to foster a more supportive environment.
“This is a plea to the public of Navua, if you don’t support your team, if you cannot motivate your team, don’t criticize them openly in the public.”
“If you have issues or anything, please come forth to me or any other officials so we can discuss rather than shouting to the players during the game,” he suggested.
Navua will face leaders Rewa at 2pm this Sunday at the Uprising Sports Centre.
