Newbie Ravunaceva driven by trust and unity

19-year-old debutant, Nunia Ravunaceva is relishing her selection into the Fijiana 7s team for next weekend’s Hong Kong 7s.

Her journey was guided by the principles of unity and trust, which helped her through the tough selection process.

The young athlete from Kadavu, who sharpened her skills with Tagimoucia Club and was selected to play for Mt Masada at Marist 7s, leaned heavily on her faith and the team’s culture to make it through challenging training sessions.

Ravunaceva’s selection journey was fueled by her prayers and commitment.

“I prayed to God, ‘Lord I need to be in the team as I prepare for the Olympics and the Hong Kong.”

“I continued to thank God for his strength,” she shared.

The transition to training with the national team brought its own set of challenges, pushing Ravunaceva to her limits.

“I was not expecting it, training with the team is hard. My first day training, I wanted to throw up and go back home,” she admitted.

However, it was the team’s shared values of unity and trust, reinforced during team devotions, that inspired her to persevere.

“I was encouraged by what was shared during team devotion to have unity and trust, so I don’t want to back down,” she stated.
