Rabuka applauds Team Fiji’s performance

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has commended Team Fiji athletes and officials in securing 10 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals in Week 1 of the 17th Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands.

Rabuka, while welcoming athletes and officials whose competition finished over the weekend, expressed how the teams have made the nation proud with the athletes’ accomplishments.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the immense dedication and hard work that these athletes have put into representing Fiji on the international stage and stated that these athletes carry not only the hopes and dreams of their teammates but also the wishes and support of the entire nation.

Rabuka commended the athletes for their participation, determination, and exemplary sportsmanship and encouraged them to continue serving as role models to their peers, particularly in light of the recent Parliamentary discussions on empowering the country’s youth.

“By setting examples of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, the athletes can motivate and inspire the younger generation to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.”

Recognising the sacrifices made by the athletes and their families, Rabuka expressed gratitude for the significant commitment shown in enabling the teams to perform at a competitive level on the world stage.

The teams that arrived yesterday are Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Fiji men’s and women’s 7s, Swimming, Weightlifting and the Men’s and Women’s Volleyball.

Rabuka was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica, Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru and Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Rovereto Nayacalevu.
