Seruiratu resigns from Standing Committee

The Leader of the Opposition Inia Seruiratu has resigned as chairperson and member of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.

In his ruling after communicating with Seruiratu, Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu accepted the resignation upon being satisfied that the standing orders 117, clause 3, had been complied with.

Ratu Naiqama said Opposition MP Jone Usamate will now be the subsequent replacement.

Deputy Chairperson Ratu Isikeli Tuiwailevu was informed by the Speaker to preside over the election of the chairperson accordingly at their next meeting.

Meanwhile SODELPA backbencher Aseri Radrodro has also been appointed as a member of a Standing Committee, replacing Assistant Minister for Women Sashi Kiran.
