Silktails aim for experience

Kaiviti Silktails Coach Wes Naiqama says they are not after results in this year’s Ron Massey Cup but want to remain competitive.

With the team’s new direction to field an Under-23 side, Naiqama is adamant that experience and a smooth transistion of players to a professional rugby league setting is key.

“We will be take part to prepare and gather as much experience as possible for our players, but we will also be competitive,” Naiqama told FijiLive.

“Adapting our players to the professional setting is the focus, and our players can achieve that in the setting we have.”

Naiqama added the team is faring well and the players were enjoying preparation in more accustomed settings.

“Preparing back at home has been great for the boys; they come to it with more eagerness and will definitely come to the Ron Massey Cup firing.”
