Minister for Women and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya has been removed as Deputy Party Leader of the People’s Alliance Party, effective immediately.
The Party’s Executive Council in its meeting yesterday in Suva, thoroughly discussed and considered the recommendation of the People’s Management Committee in relation to the sex and drug scandal involving Tabuya while on an official trip to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne last year from the 21 to 23 August 2023.
General-Secretary Usaia Waqatairewa said the Council particularly considered the severe and likely irreparable damage and disrepute that the scandal and the allegations surrounding it had brought to the Party’s image and reputation.
“The Executive Council therefore resolved, in the best interest of the Party, that Hon. Lynda Tabuya be removed as Deputy Party Leader effective immediately as at the time and date of its decision, yesterday the Monday, 4th March 2024.”
He said Tabuya was informed immediately yesterday via the appropriate official Party communication of the Executive Council’s resolution.
