Team Fiji add four more medals at Games

Team Fiji added four more medals at the 17th Pacific Games that is currently underway in the Solomon Islands yesterday.

Deborah Bulai won gold in the Women’s 4kg Hammer throw.

She threw 58.33 meters to win her debut medal.

It was a tight contest for silver, claimed by New Zealand’s Elizabeth Hewitt who threw 53.79 meters, narrowly edging out Wallis and Futuna’s Aneymone Talalua, who settled for bronze with a best throw of 53.68 meters.

The 24-year-old began her career with discus but switched to hammer throw while studying in the USA.

Lolohea Naitasi and Tanisha Chand won silver each in Taekwondo while Vishant Reddy walked away with a bronze in 800 meter finals.

Meanwhile, Team Fiji remains fifth in the medal tally with 13 gold, 18 silver and 19 bronze in the second week of the competition.
