Karan wins Fiji’s first track Gold in Honiara

Yaladro Tavua native Yeshnil Karan won Fiji’s first track Gold medal at the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara, Solomon Islands tonight after winning the men’s 10,000m event.

He finished the race one lap ahead of the others, clocking 32:32.30.

In doing so, Karan created history by becoming the first Fijian athlete to win a Gold medal on the tracks of the brand new National Stadium.

 Guam’s Hugh Kent won Silver in a time of 33:48.60 and PNG’s Dilu Bob claimed Bronze after clocking 33:57.08.

Karan’s next event is the 5000m race scheduled for Wednesday.
