Team Fiji bags 5 more gold at Games

Team Fiji added five more gold medals at the 17th Pacific Games which is currently underway in the Solomon Islands.

Debutant Rusiate Matai won his first gold in the High Jump on his first Games appearance while Tavua lad Yeshnil Karan won his third gold in the 3,000 meters steeplechase.

Fiji Men’s and Women’s Hockey snatched a gold each and an emotional boxer Jone Davule won his first Gold medal at the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Kulas walked away with silver after going down 4-1 to Papua New Guinea while the men’s football side settled for a bronze beating Vanuatu 4-2 in the play offs yesterday.

Fiji now has 21 gold, 27 silver and 38 bronze staging the sixth spot on the medal tally.

The last day of competitions today will feature Athletics, Basketball 3×3, Netball, Sailing and Touch Rugby followed by the closing ceremony.
