Second straight defeat for Fijiana in LA 7s

Fijiana suffered its second straight defeat in the Los Angeles 7s this morning, losing 19-7 to South Africa.

Winger Heleina Young scored Fiji’s first and only try in the 4th minute and a successful conversion from Ana Naimasi put them up 7-0.

Ayanda Malinga’s unconverted try just before the break saw the South Africans narrow the gap.

Fijiana lost momentum in the second spell and allowed South Afric to score two more tries through Zintle Mpupha and Liske Lategan and register victory.

With two losses in the bag, the Saiasi Fuli coached side’s quarterfinals chances are very slim.

They will face New Zealand in their final pool match at 1.24pm.
