Digicel works with Nokia to upgrade tower sites

Digicel Fiji today announced it is working with Nokia to upgrade cell tower sites across the country as it prepares for the rollout of 5G which will deliver high-speed connectivity for customers.

The upgrades are swiftly progressing in Suva as Digicel Fiji anticipates the imminent completion of 5G testing and the granting of regulatory approvals by the Government of Fiji, enabling Digicel Fiji to connect businesses and consumers with 5G.

Digicel Fiji chief executive, Farid Mohammed said Nokia’s cutting-edge equipment will enable them to not only sustain but also improve coverage across the country, boosting mobile internet speeds and embracing transformative technologies like 5G.

“Our commitment to innovation remains steadfast and these technology upgrades align with our mission to deliver supreme speeds and exceptional network experiences for our valued customers.”

He said Digicel Fiji’s upgraded cell tower sites meet strict 5G cybersecurity standards, safeguarding critical national infrastructure with resilience and security.

“Digicel Fiji is dedicated to providing high-speed connectivity and prioritising network security for our customers. This collaboration underscores our commitment to upholding the integrity of telecommunications infrastructure while advancing 5G technology,” added Farid.
