Tahs’ coach praises team over memorable Fiji win

Following their emphatic 62-21 victory over the defending champions Fijian Drua Women, Waratahs women’s head Coach Mike Ruthven commended his team’s performance.

Amid the tropical heat, Ruthven praised his team’s ability to manage the challenging conditions and maintain control over the game’s momentum.

“I’m just proud of our girls today, challenging conditions just around the heat but I thought the girls managed that well.”

“We controlled collision and were able to control momentum and tempo of the game, I thought we played some good footy so proud of our team,” he said.

“We talked a lot about connection today, it’s been our main focus whole of preseason.”

For Ruthven, this was his first visit to Fiji which created a memorable experience for him and the young players traveling abroad for the first time.

“This was my first time coming to Fiji, it was great opportunity for the girls, and we had some young girls who hadn’t travelled before,”

“It was an amazing experience being here in Fiji and the crowd is amazing and, you know, certainly one that they’ll remember,” said Ruthven.
