Fijiana 7s Head Coach Saiasi Fuli has pinpointed the restart chase and defensive alignment as the primary focus areas for his squad as they continue their preparations.
“Restart chase is the focus for the Fijiana 7s team, we need to have a strong connection between the kicker and the chaser and there’s where you win position, score a try, come back and restart again.”
Additionally, Fuli spoke about the importance of defensive composure, especially when the players are under pressure or fatigue sets in.
“Another key area is our defensive shape on the edge, how they can still read and anticipate the defensive lead if there’s an overlap, how they should know to maintain the defensive shape and stay connected when they are tired,” he explained.
With the team already qualified for the Madrid tournament and the Olympics, Fuli says there is no pressure on the players, but the focus remains on maintaining consistent performance and securing victories in key games.
