Adhere to safety measures, move to high ground: Police

The Fiji Police Force is calling on the public not to cross flooded waters, as most parts of the Fiji Group is experiencing heavy rain and constant flooding.

In a statement, police said parts of Rakiraki town and other parts of the Western Division are now flooded.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu said officers are on standby.

The police is calling on the public to use their common sense while moving around if the weather worsens.

“Do not attempt to cross flooded roads and rivers.”

“Fijians living in flood-prone areas are urged to move to higher grounds while there is day break to avoid unwanted casualties,” he said.

The public is urged to contact the Fiji Police Force on 917 or the National Fire Authority on 910 if in need of assistance moving.
