Reserve Bank of Fiji Governor Ariff Ali says there is huge potential in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector which can become the driving force in the Fijian economy.
Ali in a media conference said the BPO sector is unquestionably evolving in Fiji and recent growth and milestones achieved by the industry really helping in the nation’s growth.
He said the other potential commodity is the gold sector and though they are not able to gauge the commodity this year, it potentially remains a lucrative one for next year.
Based on the current trend, the tourism output for this year is up by 1.5 per cent compared to the tourism numbers for 2019 and the sector has been the driving factor for economic growth since the border was opened two years ago.
Ali said there are a lot of sectors related to tourism such as transportation, accommodation, wholesale and retail that jointly contribute to economic advancement.
He added that the other area marked is inward remittance which is currently holding strong.
