The Fiji Kulas are determined to win their first-ever Pacific Games gold medal in women’s football tonight in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Coach Angeline Chua said the task will be very difficult against reigning champions and favorites, Papua New Guinea but nothing is impossible if they put their hearts and minds and give their all for Fiji in the final.
“Fiji has participated in five Pacific Games and we have won bronze on three occasions. Definitely we have gone a level up this time and will win a different colored medal and the aim definitely is to win gold and create history for women’s football in Fiji.”
“PNG is a very strong team and they defeated Fiji in the Nations Cup last year to progress to World Cup playoffs so this time we just need to focus on ourselves.”
“They are very strong and aggressive and will have to ensure we on the field well prepared. We are excited but at the same time very cautious because we know what to expect from our opponents and the final will definitely be very tough and intense,” said Chua.
The women’s final will commence at 8pm.
