Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side defeated Ireland 21-5 to secure a spot in the cup quarterfinals against USA.
The match started in Fijiana’s favor where Vani Buleki dashed past defenders, scoring a try in the first minute, with Ana Naimasi successfully converting to give Fiji a 7-0 lead.
Despite a strong defense from both sides, the score remained 7-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Buleki continued her impressive form, slicing through Ireland’s defense to score another try under the posts in the 9th minute, with Naimasi converting to extend Fiji’s lead to 14-0.
Ireland’s Amee Crowe fought back, scoring a try and narrowing the gap to 14-5.
However, Fijiana replied with a brilliant set piece as Raijieli Daveua assisted Meredani Qoro for a try, which Lavena Cavuru converted, sealing the victory at 21-5.
Fijiana faces USA in the first women’s cup quarter final at 7.34pm today.
