Fijiana 7s Head Coach Saiasi Fuli says his team needs to hone in on their restarts, improve defensive shapes upon losing possession, and enhance decision-making under pressure.
“We need to reconnect on our defensive shape if we lose the ball and also our key decisions making under pressure, that was the let down in Canada. We were fixing that in training and hopefully, they deliver.”
Despite not securing a win in the past four tournaments, Fuli says the main objective is to qualify for the Madrid tournament.
“The overall objective is to qualify for the Madrid tournament. Every team is trying their very best to play and do their best. We need to improve, we need to maximize our points to qualify for the top 4 this weekend,”
The team faces a setback as Reapi Uluinasau has been ruled out for the weekend’s Los Angeles 7s due to injury, leaving the team to compete with only 12 players.
“Unfortunately, we could not make it for the past four tournaments, we will continue to fight…We have faith and trust in our 12 players,” he concluded.
